The winter birds migrate to Bhutan from Tibet every winter (early Nov to End of February) to avoid the extreme harsh climatic conditions. Phobjikha valley is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Later in the afternoon hike the Nature trail providing you with pleasing view of the valleys.
While Phobjikha valley has hotels and guest houses due to its popularity as a tourist destination, it is still a unique valley removed from the buzz of the capital city not far off and we strongly encourage our guests to use homestays / farmhouses so that the community is directly benefited.

(This valley got electricity recently. Farm house stay optional)

Drugyel Dzong, with a delightful village nestling at its fot is built on a rocly spur that blocks the Paro valley and protected it from invasions from the north.
The Dzong was built in 1647 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate his victory over the Tibetans in 1644. Drugyel Dzong means ‘fortress of the victorious Drukpas’.
